At 21, Petite Jamilla is the youngest dancer in the famed Bellydance Superstar lineup. And yet, she is considered a vetran in her profession, as she has spent her life, from the time she could walk, emersed in the arts, especially bellydance.

**This foray into dance would most likely be due to the fact that her mother, Jamilla Rasa is also a bellydancer, known in the California community, and one of the founders of MECDA during the 70s/80s, in her area. Working and learning from various sources, including the famous Aisha Ali, she soon transferred that knowledge to baby Jamilla; Petite Jamilla began dancing at the age of two, watching her mother at various Renaissance fairs and shows. She and her mother soon devised training in the art of veils, and at 5 years of age, this dynamo began the dance that would make her famous.
Since then, she has become a master bellydancer --at the age of 17, she had already dancing in museums, restaurants, and weddings...Petite Jamilla has also been teaching workshops that range from Zill Techniques with Modern Incorporations, Choreographed Fusion Drum Solo’s, and Spinning Introductions with Double Veil “How To’s.” By the age of 20, she had produced 2 instructional dvd’s [Beginner’s Dance Movements, and Secrets of the Double Veil] available for purchase through www.bohemianmarket.com. Cross-Cultural Fusions are a passionate focus for this dancer as her Irish/Native American ethnicity became the incentive to further explore and push the boundaries of fusion in dance. She also has training Polynesian, Scottish Highland, Modern Irish, and Cape Breton Step Dancing. Dually equipped as a classically trained musician in Western style compositions and Scottish/Irish blends - it was, of all things, the Highland Bagpipes that showcased Petite Jamilla’s talent for the critically acclaimed Rod Stewart in February of 2000.
It would only be a matter of time before she flew out for the BDSS auditions....and the rest, as they say, is history.....
